In a quiet street, a classic Victorian terrace hides a rather magical small hotel! Walls have been removed to allow the houses to be linked together, revealing generously proportioned interiors. Near the main attractions of South Africa’s ‘Mother City’’, the Villa lies conveniently half way between the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront and Table Mountain Cableway, a short stroll from the centre of the city.
These elegant double story town houses have the hallmark architectural characteristics of an era when space was no obstacle. The rooms are spacious, the ceilings high and the original walls reassuringly thick and solid. Dating back to the late 1800’s the new building has been refurbished and decorated in a sophisticated contemporary African style.
The air of calmness which is immediately noticeable in the house is achieved by skilful use of play of light, sensitive use of colour, subtle texture and pattern play which is uniformly applied throughout the house.
The Villa is manned by the owners, with the help of a small and enthusiastic staff. Friendly dogs are on hand at times, generally at the request of guests. We offer guests an orientation to the secrets of our city after which they have the freedom of the house, much as they would friends in their own home. A selective guide to life in the city, its tourist attractions, restaurants and other places of interest on the Peninsula is left in rooms to help you to settle in. Should you need more advice or help, staff are at hand to offer assistance during the day and a night manager is on duty to assist after 7pm.
At the heart of the house, as you may expect, lies a welcoming kitchen where a buffet breakfast is laid. You can enjoy your morning meal in a spacious dining room or, weather permitting al fresco, in our secluded poolside .
Facilities at the Villa include: a selection of library books for exchange, a communal computer (complimentary, high-speed fibre-optic Wi-fi where free internet access is available throughout the house); a plunge pool surrounded by cushioned loungers in summer.
