We are grateful to be able to report that the Cape Winter has brought good
winter rains (and even some snow on Table Mountain) over the past few months and our dam water supply is in far better shape than at the same time last year and more rainfall is predicted for the next 2 months. Even with this good news, Cape Town’s citizens and visitors are being encouraged to continue to be water wise and save water, but the threat of a shutdown of our water supply is, thankfully a thing of the past at least for the next 12 months.

You might’ve heard of Day Zero (the day it was anticipated when the city of Cape Town could run dry) or you might’ve seen some news footage of people standing in line waiting to fill up bottles with water.

Sadly, the international news footage that was aired failed to mention that those people were queuing for FREE spring water, not because there was no water in Cape Town.  That footage made tourists panic and as a result, loads of guests cancelled their upcoming trips to Cape Town as they anticipated there would be no water in Cape Town.  Nonetheless, it is a scenario that could become reality for some water scarce cities around the world if the current global weather patterns continue.
